Cristina & Jason at Mellon Auditorium (after party!)

Cristina, Jason, and all their nearest and dearest know how to party. I had after party duties for their wedding reception at Mellon Auditorium, and it was, indeed, a PARTY. A band for the regular reception warmed up the crowd nicely, but folks were far from tired when I played my first song as the clock struck midnight. Once I saw their enthusiasm, I knew it would be a late night. And I was right — we went an hour later than we originally scheduled — until 3 am!

DJing wedding receptions is always fun — but  the toasts, cake cutting, bouquet tosses, etc, while important and special, can in some ways interrupt the flow and energy on the dance floor. We always make it work (well), but having the opportunity to play for 3 hours, uninterrupted, for a dance floor that is primed and ready to go, is not typical for a wedding event. It is more like a nightclub experience (with a warm-up dj). So I went in. And folks went crazy. There were lots of South American guests, so I played a mixture of Reggaeton, latin dance-pop, and current (U.S.) dance pop hits. Folks ate it up, especially Daddy Yankee – “Gasolina,” Maroon 5 – “Moves like Jagger, ” and Carly Rae Jeppsen – “Call Me Maybe.” Not too much more to say about this one, to be honest!

It was a crazy party with folks dancing HARD until the lights came on or their feet just couldn’t take it any more. I should add that Simply Chic Events, who handled all the planning and logistics, did an impeccable job. Everything from load in, to scheduling went off without a hitch. No small feat for such an extravagant event.
