Meistro: Marshall & Jaime at the Hotel Monaco

What a spectacular day! Marshall & Jaime could not have asked for more spectacular weather this past Saturday at the Hotel Monaco in Alexandria. We arrived early to set up for the brief outdoor ceremony, which included 2 K-9, dress wearing  “flower girls.” It really set the casual mood for the lovely reception that was to follow.

I supplied the ceremony music — the bride and groom chose all recognizable cover tunes by the Piano Guys,  which was not too familiar with, but was a great choice nevertheless.

After a slightly longer-than-usual cocktail hour, during which we had to  move some gear, the bride and groom entered and had their meticulously practiced first dance, a live Coldplay cover of Alicia Keys smash hit “If I ain’t got you.”

Dinner was served and I played a mix of mellow classics and contemporary pop tunes. Speeches were followed by some furious dancing to the recent hits with a few classics, such as The Emotions – “Best of My love” (one of my alltime wedding favorites) thrown in for good measure.

A few days before the wedding, the bride emailed me to make a special song request for the groom (98 degrees – “I Do”), which I slipped in just after the cake cutting ceremony. That kicked off a short slow-dance set which filled the floor right back up. I finished the night off with some hits from the 2000s and a few classics by Jackson 5, Beyonce, and Mary J. Blige.

Overall, a great evening! Congrats to Marshall and Jaime!
