Song Of The Day: Kabbala “Ashewo Ara (Mix 88)”

The afro-disco group Kabbala was made up of two Ghanaian brothers, Michael and Isaac Osapanin. The group only released two singles during their existence and both are total bangers. “Ashewo Ara” proved to be the bigger West African dance floor hit, even eventually making it European dancefloors following a slight remix 6 years after its original release. The song boasts a relentless drumbeat/ elastic bass combo, so bright you can’t look at them for fear of going blind horns, keyboard and minimal, chanted vocals.

Its too bad this duo didn’t release more music, because what exists are some of the best African dance-floor cuts around.
