I thought this would be a good one to start off 2012 with.
“Its Just Begun” by the Jimmy Castor Bunch came out on RCA in 1972 and is one the all time classic break dancing songs. It sold moderately well when it came out but really took off once break dancers discovered it in the early 80’s. It appeared in “Flashdance” (giving it some needed grit) and in “Beat Street.” The song is impossible to categorize – is it funk? psych rock? hip-hop (before that term existed)? You decide.
