The Strong Mansion in Dickerson, MD is an amazing place. Nestled on the side of Sugarloaf Mountain (near Frederick) the mansion is an old historic house with beautiful grounds. It was a good thing the house is big because the weather did not cooperate for Christine and Lawrence’s early May wedding but the guests had a great time in the tent and in the historic house. The lovely images seen here are courtesy Baltimore-based Nessa K Photography. More images are available at her blog entry.

The ceremony was moved into the tent and a great bluegrass band played the ceremony and the happy hour. After a first dance to Big Star‘s “13” (my favorite first dance pick yet!) the guests had a nice dinner. The rain was kind enough to let up during dinner so the sides of the tent opened up and pictures were taken in the gardens.

The dancing started after dinner with the playlist running the gamut from the Beatles to Lady Gaga and back again. The dancefloor never really cleared (except for the cake cutting) but the real crowd favorites included “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin'” by the Scissor Sisters, “Dancing with Myself” by Generation X and “Breakfast Machine” by Danny Elfman.
