Beth & Adam’s Wedding at the International Country Club

Beth and Adam's beautiful ceremony, outside at the International Country Club
This Saturday we were at the International Country Club in Fairfax, Virginia for the wedding of Beth and Adam. They could not have asked for a more beautiful day for their big event. A bit of rain fell earlier in the day but by the time their ceremony got started, it was gorgeous! The manicured lawns and trees of the Country Club were a lovely backdrop to the chuppah, festooned with deep red roses by Brookhill Florist. The same color was chosen for the bridesmaids’ beautiful dresses and would be used to dramatic effect inside at the reception.

Cantor Jinny Marsh performed a lovely ceremony which joined tradition and freshness (check out her Klezmer Band)! The bridal party walked up the aisle to Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” and recessed to “Signed, Sealed, and Delivered” by Stevie Wonder.

It was a lot of fun to work with Megan Pollard of Events in the City. She did a fantastic job of helping Beth and Adam realize their dream wedding day and kept everything running smoothly all night!

Beth & Adam's cake, with rose petalsInside, the color scheme of red, black and white was in full effect, thanks to Ampa Events. Cakes by Caroline provided an elegant confection with curlicues of chocolate icing. I am excited to see what Sarah Hodzic of Blink Photography develops with her Holga inspired aesthetic!

Adam and Beth were introduced to the dance floor to “Run this Town (feat. Rihanna)” by Jay-Z and performed their first dance to “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keyes. The mother of the bride gave a beautiful toast, describing how Adam was exactly the kind of man that Beth was looking for and how Beth had been planning this day for 20 years! Beth’s excitement was apparent from the moment the ceremony began until the last song of the night. I don’t think she ever stopped smiling!

the Good Fellas soundtrack, doo-wop and girl group sounds

During dinner we heard some great tunes that Beth and Adam requested (Adam is a huge fan of the Good Fellas soundtrack so some Rat Pack, doo-wop and girl group sounds were in order), including Frank Sinatra‘s “Come Fly With Me,” Dean Martin‘s “That’s Amore!,” Billy Ward and His Dominoes‘ “Stardust” and “Today I Met the Boy I’m Gonna Marry” by Darlene Love. We strayed from the formula just a bit for some classic country from Chet Atkins and Johnny Cash; “Get Rhythm” got a big thumbs-up from Adam.

The dance floor kicked off strong with some favorites by The Jackson 5, and Usher’s “Yeah”. Adele’s “Rollin’ in the Deep (Cousin Cole Remix)” went into Madonna’s “Like a Prayer (Roctakon & Eli Club Version)”.

Beth’s parents danced to Climax’s “Precious and Few” to celebrate 34 years of marriage

Adam signalled that he had really joined the family when he danced with Beth’s mom to “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack, followed by Climax’s “Precious and Few” in honor of Beth’s parents’ 34 years together. The crowd got back on the floor for the Bee Gees, into a request for “Maria” by Ricky Martin, and some Shakira. Blondie’s “Rapture” got a big reaction, and the crowd was loving Notorious B.I.G. and The Pharcyde. Sticking with a theme, we heard “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys and closed out the night with Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer”. From the look on her face, Beth’s 20 years of planning this wedding paid off, and we wish her and Adam a lifetime of joy and happiness!
