Nestled among the incredible funky tracks on the Meters’ first album is a surprisingly low-key & emotional cut, simply dubbed “Stormy.” Many years later, the track would be sampled on “Clear Blue Skies” by The Juggaknots.
The Aged in Harmony single, “You’re A Melody,” never ceases to blow my mind with it’s beauty. That basic guitar riff kicks it off, and by the time the strings come in, I’m pretending I can dance again. Fantastic.
Recently, I’ve been spending a good bit of time with go-go guru Max Kidd. Mizax and the Flizaps “Test Me” is one example of a plethora of forgotten works that a younger Maxx chose to involve himself in, long before go-go was just a way to refer to a local night club.
