Melissa and Pablo’s Fall Wedding at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens

Who gets married on the Monday before Thanksgiving? Some smart folks that we had the pleasure of working for at the end of 2014. Coinciding with the bride’s birthday, Melissa and Pablo had a gorgeous fall wedding at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens with friends and family taking advantage of some holiday vacation time. This couple might be ahead of the wedding trends. Make sure to check in on Marirosa Wedding Photography, a great vendor we worked with for this wedding. She has a full gallery of more gorgeous shots of the lovely evening.

Our Thanksgiving wedding gig started with unseasonably mild temperatures perfect for a patio cocktail hour and ended with a blowout holiday dance party framed by our lighting indoors and the Meadowlark’s Winter Walk of Lights on the outdoor grounds.

As the guests arrived from the ceremony, I coaxed some of them outdoors with a playlist of classics. Frankie Valli, led into Frank Sinatra and then to Otis Redding and Stevie Wonder. Via my consult with Pablo, I knew that his family would appreciate Latin flavors, so during dinner I dipped into some Chicha Libre and Bacilos. Glenn Miller‘s “In The Mood” was a specific dinner request and I complimented it with Ella Fitzgerald‘s “Love Is Here To Stay” and Duke Ellington‘s “Take The ‘A’ Train”.

Casper‘s “Cha Cha Slide” set off the dancing portion of the evening and from there I made my way through soul, Top 40, Latin and hip-hop. Elvis Crespo has perennial party bangers that work across the language divide and I built off the energy of “Suavamente” with “La Travesia” by Juan Luis Guerra. I was able to bounce between Michael Jackson and Marc Anthony, Salt-N-Pepa and Angel & Khriz, BeyoncĂ© and The Bee Gees before bringing the night in for a landing. Everyone got their last strut on to Donna Summer‘s “Last Dance” before following Melissa and Pablo out onto the grounds to bid them farewell by strolling the walk of lights.
