Darshan Jesrani, better known as 1/2 of Brooklyn-based disco and house duo Metro Area, is about to release a new single under his Cylinder moniker. The track “Disco Engine” is Jesrani’s “attempt at getting a techno lover to play a disco record.” It sees the light of day, via vinyl and on his own imprint Startree Records, February 15th.

The nine minute disco and boogie roller features a sparse hook of “Disco engine all night long/On and on and on” from Chelsea Adewunmi. Everything about the track makes it an instant classic with just the right understated elements; a subtle sub bass groove, Roland CR-78 style drum sounds, 80’s fm synth tones, and haunting vocal patches. It’s minimal yet infectiously engaging, so much so that 9 minutes doesn’t seem long enough! Check it out below.
