Chicago-based production duo Altered Tapes deliver a fresh take on The Pharcyde’s hip-hop classic “Runnin’.” Like all their altered versions, Maker and Trew keep the essence of the original intact but up the tempo for the dance floor. They dig deeper into the jazz of J. Dilla’s original production and add a pleasantly surprising bossa nova element (admittedly, the Stan Getz-inspired graphic gives it away). Very nice.
