This track by Welsh band Joanna Gruesome reminds me of stuff I used to listen to when I was a teenager back in Manila: early My Bloody Valentine, c86 scene bands–dreamy songs full of lush distortion and driving beats. Released in 2013 by Slumberland Records (US) & Fortuna Pop! (UK) and produced by MJ of Hookworms, Joanna Gruesome‘s debut album Weird Sister is an addictive mix of stompy post-punk and fuzzy pop, all in under 30 minutes. “Sugarcrush” is my favorite track off the album.
