Britt Daniel and company, Spoon, have broken their four-year silence and released a single called “Do You” earlier this month. The Austin-based quintet eek out a summery pop gem in anticipation of their eighth full length, They Want My Soul out on August 5. This is their first release on Loma Vista Recordings (home to acts such as Little Dragon and St. Vincent), after a five-year stint with Merge Records. “Do You” is an incredibly catchy tune that is immediately familiar, in that classic Spoon sense. Let’s hope the rest of the album will be their triumphant return to form.
