Song of the Day: Jimi Hendrix “Watchtower • The Reflex Re√ision”

Jimi Hendrix

this classic takes on a whole new life

Finishing out my year of Song of the Day posts with another satisfying re√ision from The Reflex. Staying true to the sound of the original as always, The Reflex re-edits and remixes Jimi Hendrix’s immortal cover of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower,” using nothing but the original stems, i.e. the original multitrack 1967 recordings. Tempo-locked for maximum DJ usefulness (and maximum dancefloor impact), “Watchtower” is stretched out to a full six minutes, with the drums beefed up (using just EQ), and Hendrix’s masterful guitar work brought front and center, this classic takes on a whole new life.

Now available as part of a full-album download of remixes, The Reflex’s Million Sellers album includes remixed and re-invigorated tunes from The Bee Gees, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Eagles, Stevie Wonder, Queen, The Talking Heads, The Clash, The Jam, and more. Get it here.
