Payal and James’ Celebrations at the Bay wedding

I had the pleasure of DJing Payal and James’ gorgeous multi-cultural Celebrations at the Bay wedding in Pasadena, MD over Memorial Day weekend. While the forecast called for rain, it was all blue sky with some scattered clouds and brisk breeze.

Per the grooms request, I played some sweet Brazilian jazz as guests filed in following the joyous baraat — the groom’s entrance. The wind proved slightly challenging, but we managed to mic the fantastic tabla and sitar players that added great ambiance to the traditional Hindu ceremony. Once the union was official, and the bride and groom and bridal party recessed to Hall & Oates’ “You Make My Dreams Come True,” the guests cheered and b-lined to cocktail hour. I should note that dozens of family members made the trek from India which only added to what was already an obviously joyous occasion.

Cocktail hour and dinner music was a mix of classics: Frank Sinatra, Al Green, and a few Bollywood classics. Following dinner, there were a couple of wonderful and adorable dance performances by some of Payal’s cousins. I didn’t personally have the best view from the DJ booth, but what I could see was spectacular.

Then it was party time. Since so many folks made the trip from India, I was sure to pack my crates with the latest Bollywood hits. And I was glad I did; the dance floor ignited with the first one and never really let up! Some of the bigger tunes of the night included Sukhwinder Singh “Marjaani Marjaani”, and Kishore Kumar “Bachna Ae Haseeno.” What a party!

Thanks to Timmester Photography, who masterfully captured all the action!
