Song of the Day: TiRon, Ayomari and Yummy’s “All My Love”

TiRon & Ayomari

This tune is from what will possibly be my favorite hip-hop release this year, depending on what that Roots undun album sounds like. I’m keen on TiRon & Ayomari‘s official debut album A Sucker For Pumps (mixtapes notwithstanding) because they’re young cats able to fuse the au courant sound of today’s hip-hop with classic elements. I can get with neither the neon leggings-as-pants, sing-song rap kids nor can I stomach the ultra keep-it-real revivalists that didn’t experience the eras they obsessively revere. But this duo pulls from multiple sources of inspiration and have their own distinctive style. The latter is really all I want from rap doods in my old age.

So yeah, the Synthetic Substitution break is a nice nostalgic touch. And I’ve been a huge fan of Yummy Bingham‘s vocals since The Rayne and her work with De La Soul. And these dudes cleverly rhyme a lot about the young ladies, in the same way I felt about them when I was in my early 20’s, except I wasn’t nearly as clever. Great song from a dope album. Been playing it a lot.
