Middle of August and folks are saying summer is winding down. I disagree. Summer holds on in the nation’s capitol ’til October sometimes…

1.  Phantom Slasher – Nicoteen [Noid]
The Idjut Boys throw on another pseudonym and turn out another stellar re-edit. This time its the Italo-disco of Five Sinners’ Magic. Nice boogie groove here.

2.  Aldo Vanucci & Feature Cast – Make You Happy [Good Groove Records]
Super-soulful string-soaked party disco breaks. And a well-placed Rob Base sample takes it over the top.

3.  Rebel Crew – Fiebre De Manuel Mambo [Starlight Beats]
A chopped-up Spanish-language cover of the classic Fever gets the hip-hop beats treatment by the Houston-based Rebel Crew. I think the ladies are gonna like it.

4.  Dub Traffik Control – Juana Tijuana [BSTRD Boots]
BSTRD Boots can seemingly do no wrong on the re-edit front; every release has been a winner. No. 4 comes from Dub Traffik Control, who turn out a solid 6-tracker. Featuring a very tasty dancefloor-ready re-edit of San Diego Latin band Agua Dulce.

5.  Sambasonic – Take It Easy My Brother Charlie [private pressing, ahem]
From Brazilian Food vol. 1, a collection of handpicked stone-cold classic Brazilian dancefloor heaters, Sambasonic come correct on this Jorge Ben cover.

6.  Tim Maia – Rational Culture – Remix [private pressing, ahem]
Tim Maia’s original Rational Culture gets a very funky reworking on this standout from Brazilian Food vol. 2, 6 more handpicked cuts of Brazilian dancefloor goodness.

7.  The Marvelettes – Too Many Fish in the Sea (B.Cause OOH Edit) [MP3 only]
Oh my, San Francisco’s DJ B.Cause delivers a beyond dope hip-hop mix of the Marvelettes’ Motown classic.
